As your new supplier, it’s our responsibility to give the industry your opening meter reading. If we don’t have one, the industry will use an estimated reading. While this can be challenged later, it requires agreement from all parties (including your previous supplier) and is subject to strict industry tolerances.
The best way to make sure your reading is accurate is to send us a picture read — this gives us photographic proof in case of a dispute.
You can do this by:

Logging in to the Tulo App or Web Portal and starting a web chat with our team.
Even if you have a smart meter, it may take a few days for us to connect to it, so we still recommend sending a picture read.
