Energy Bills from April 2026 – What’s Changing from 2025 Budget

Modified on Tue, 24 Mar at 4:59 PM

From 1 April 2026, your energy bill will be discounted following action taken by the UK Government in the 2025 Budget.

The Government has announced changes designed to reduce the cost of energy for households, with an average saving of around £150 per year for a typical home.

These savings come from adjustments to certain costs that are usually included within energy bills. As a result, energy prices across the market are reducing, and these savings are being passed through to customers automatically.

In addition, the energy price cap set by Ofgem has been adjusted to reflect these savings from April.

What this means for you

  • Your energy rates will be reduced automatically from 1st April 2026

  • You do not need to take any action

  • The exact saving will depend on your usage and tariff

Your energy bill will be discounted from the 1st of April following action taken by the UK Government in the 2025 Budget. You can find more information at: www.gov.uk/government/news/your-energy-bill-from-april-whats-changing
