Warm Home Discount 2025 — FAQ
The scheme continues to provide a £150 one-off rebate on energy bills for eligible households. This amount has remained unchanged for 2025.
What’s new in 2025?
The scheme has been expanded, adding around 2.7 million more households to those eligible, bringing the total to approximately 6 million.
Eligibility criteria have been simplified. In England and Wales, the previous requirement that a home must have high energy costs has been removed, making more households eligible under means-tested benefit criteria alone.
How will customers get the discount?
In England and Wales, almost all eligible households will receive the discount automatically, as long as they meet the benefit criteria and are named on the energy bill by the qualifying date (24 August 2025).
In Scotland, automatic payments are made only for those receiving the Pension Credit Guarantee (“Core Group”). Others (“Broader Group”) must apply through their supplier.
The rebate is applied between October 2025 and March 2026, typically appearing as a credit on your bill or a voucher for prepayment meter users
